Description
What is iron?
Iron is an incredibly important mineral that helps transport vital nutrients around the body. If your levels are low, your body functions less efficiently, leaving you feeling tired. If your iron levels drop too low, you may even develop anaemia, which can lead to a whole host of unpleasant symptoms including fatigue, dizziness, breathlessness and weak muscles. According to the World Health Organisation, iron is the nutrient both men and women are most likely to be deficient in. EU guidelines recommend that adults need 14mg per day but many of us simply aren't getting this.
The Irish Nutrition and Dietetics Institute states that women are at risk of having low body stores of iron because of menstruation and not eating enough iron-rich foods to replace the losses. A recent large survey suggested that 42% of Irish women could be at risk of low levels. Vegetarians and vegans are also at risk because the richest, most absorbable sources of the mineral are found in meat and seafood.
Why is ours better?
IronCare® contributes to the formation of red blood cells and haemoglobin. It contains vitamin B2, which supports the body's ability to metabolise iron, along with B6, which is important for energy and combating fatigue. It also includes copper, which helps transport iron around the body, as well as vitamin C, which helps in the absorption of iron. Even better, our iron tablets are suitable For vegetarians and vegans; this is especially important to help reduce the risk of deficiencies in anyone following a meat−free diet. Last but not least, it is made from iron bisglycinate, which is gentle on the stomach, preventing some of the side effects associated with traditional iron supplements, such as constipation and nausea.
Who is this for?
For anyone who is concerned about their iron levels, especially vegetarians, vegans and women who experience heavy menstrual bleeding.
